TOPIC: KEY CRISIS LEARNINGS TO DATE
General information
A videoconference between IADS Merchandise Director to share what they are currently experiencing in terms of customer behaviour and sales trends, as well as the initiative they have carried during the lockdown periods and after. Objectives of this discussion were:
- To have a "Contingency exchange" about market and consumer changes observed on all IADS markets
- To Share perspectives and initiatives taken at strategic & operational level
- To Prepare 2021 potential axes of reflection at IADS level on how to address operational topics beneficial for its members

Key learnings
- All IADS members took the crisis as an opportunity to accelerate on key strategic moves, be it sales channels (e-commerce, social commerce…), suppliers relationship, internal organization.
- Home category is a clear winner, at the expenses of Fashion which is not faring well across the board. This dual trend is observed within suppliers brands and private labels
- Relationship with customers are improved by reviewing the store physical organization, in addition to focused CRM programs with clear messages
- Hot topics: Suppliers relationship, Internal organization simplification, Sustainability in operations, private labels and with suppliers
